Seek First to Understand

This is adopted from one of Stephen Covey's "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People." Using this strategy is a shortcut to becoming a more content person.

Become more interested in understanding others and less in having other people understand you.  It means mastering the idea that if you want quality, fulfilling communication that is nourishing to you and others, understanding others must come first.  When you understand where people are coming from, what they are trying to say, what's important to them, and so forth, being understood flows naturally; it falls into place with virtually no effort.  When you reverse this process, however, you are putting the cart before the horse.

Stop interrupting others and listen carefully.

Seeking first to understand isn't about who's right or wrong; it is a philosophy of effective communication.  When you practice this method you'll notice that the people you communicate with will feel listened to, heard, and understood.  This will translate into better, more loving relationships.

When the Door of Opportunity Opens, Are You Ready to Walk Through It?

Many are waiting for an opportunity but are not prepare to receive it.  Whatever opportunity you desire, when that door opens, are you prepare to walk through it? Do you the secret to getting through the door of opportunity?

You never know when the door of opportunity is going to open wide. You have to always be ready. For all those who are successful, there is one key similarity: They were ready. And for every one of those who were ready, there were thousand more who weren't.

The key is, be ready.

Are you ready?  Are your skills as sharp as they could be?
Is your character deep enough to handle success? You don't want big success if your character can't handle it.

The job to do while waiting for the door to open is to develop your skills and your character, as to position yourself to get through the door before it closes.

Your door will open someday, believe it or not. It will. It opens for everyone.  It may only open once or it may open many times. It is different for everyone but everyone do get a shot.  Will you be ready?

Do everything you can to be ready.  Don't just sit and wish and dream. Make sure you are the hardest worker closest to the door.  Even if you have to volunteer to keep your skills fresh and sharp, do that.

When it opens-Be Ready!

You Are Important

Everyone on this planet, within this universe, is important.  Each one of us, our lives, our energy, helps to complete the circle of life.  Unfortunately, some of us go through life feeling devalue, unappreciated and not accepted or respected, because of our social values.  Well, that is far from the truth.
The truth is, there is only one you and the purpose you are created for, only you can do it.  Your personality, your genetic code, your finger prints are uniquely design for a purpose.  Out of the billions of people in this world, only you can do what you are created to do and do it the way you were designed to get it done.  So, the next time you doubt your presence or existence, I want you to remember, although there are billions of others out there, there is only one you.  You are uniquely you, for a unique purpose, to do a unique job, in a unique way.
Do me a favor, look around you, do you realize that there is no one compare to you? Do you know why, because you are you and no one can ever be you.  The world needs you, the world needs the gift God send for us through you.   Please deliver.  Be You.

DARK SKIN IS NOT JUST BEAUTIFUL, IT'S ACCEPTABLE

I have to speak against racism but it gets difficult telling the White man not to discriminate, when the Black man is discriminating against each other.  When I hear a very beautiful dark skin woman telling me how beautiful she is and within the same conversation, tells me that she is with a light skin brother because she wants to have beautiful kids, I get really confuse.   What a contradiction?   Or, when I listen to a handsome dark skin man, describing a beautiful young lady as such, "she has that beautiful complexion," when asked which complexion is beautiful, his response is, "that light complexion." Of course, my next question is, which complexion is ugly and all I get is, "you know what I meant." No, I don't know.
Let the change starts with us, let us stop being embarrass and be honest with ourselves about beauty.  I sure majority don't think dark complexion is unattractive, they just believe that lighter complexion is more acceptable.  STOP BEING EMBARRASS TO BE DARK SKIN, EMBRACE THE BEAUTY WITH CONFIDENT.  I KNOW I DO, LOVE ALL COMPLEXIONS, ESPECIALLY MINE.

THE SECRET TO A GREAT DAY

Would you like to have an awesome day? Are you aware that you have the power to make your day bright and beautiful, no matter what obstacle may come your way? Here are few tips to a great day.

1. Wake up early: Several studies have correlated waking up early with success. Here's a breakdown of the benefits reaped by early risers.
a. Breakfast
We've all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it's also one of the most skipped meals. According to WebMd, eating a healthy breakfast in the morning gives you:
  • A more nutritionally complete diet, higher in nutrients, vitamins and minerals
  • Improved concentration and performance in the classroom or the boardroom
  • More strength and endurance to engage in physical activity
  • Lower cholesterol levels
Wake up with an extra 10 minutes early to cook some eggs and whole wheat toast. Even if you're in a rush, grab a banana and yogurt on your way out. While a hearty breakfast would be best, something is better than nothing.

b. Exercise
Working out in the morning is one of the best ways to get your day going. Not only does it give you that energy boost, but also helps you sleep better at night. Those who exercise too close to bedtime have a much harder time falling asleep. The health benefits like a boosted metabolism don't hurt either. Make it part of your morning routine, and soon you'll be less groggy and more awake when heading into work, or that 8 a.m.

c. Relaxation
Morning is when your brain is most sharp.
When you wake up in the morning, write down three things you're thankful for, and yes, write it down. It gets your brain moving and gets you in a good mood because you realize that it's pretty easy to find three things.  Force yourself out of bed – sit at the kitchen table, on the couch, anywhere except bed. When we sit and hang out in bed, our brain gets used to associating "bed" with something other than sleep. That's also part of the reason why research is saying to keep TVs out of your room. You get too used to watching TV in bed, that you disassociate bed and sleep. Reestablish your bed, only stay in it for sleep.

d. More Sleep
We all know we should get eight hours of sleep, yet we just want to watch one more episode on Netflix, or you are so stuck in your nightly routine of staying up late that you don't realize you should really close your eyes. And we can't forget about those long nights in the library, rushing to finish that paper or cramming to do well on a test. Then you see the nightlife and parties, who wants to sleep when there's so much going on, so much to do?
Getting the proper amount of sleep not only gets you more energized for the day, it improves your mental health, creativity and weight control. However, there's a thin line between getting enough sleep and getting to much sleep. Sleeping for 10 hours and being in bed too long is going to make you even more tired throughout the day. Go to sleep early. It may be hard to adjust at first, but once you keep waking up early, it'll be easy to get to bed early, too.

e. More Productive
Waking up early, plus doing all the above mentioned, will result in more productivity throughout the day. By lunchtime you've conquered so much and the refuel of energy will help you get through the rest of it. The morning is when your brain is most alert and focused, so get your most important tasks done right away.

2. Drink water: It replenishes you, it rehydrates you, it gives you more health, an internal detox. That victim C gives you that glowing skin.

3. Exercise: You don't have to run a marathon, just do something that keeps your body moving for at least 20 to 30mins, an hour even better.

4. Get some daily inspiration: Read something to inspire you, listen to something that will inspire you or talk to someone inspirational.

5. Let go of fear and dive into a beautiful day.  You are alive, let the day surprise you with the gifts of giving and receiving life lessons.

MAKE YOUR DAY AWESOME.

THE WARRIOR AWARD

If you are a facebook junky like I am, most likely, you have seen posts about the WARRIOR AWARDS. If you have not seen it, it is a game as follow: If you are selected for the Warrior Award, you have to choose 10 people on Facebook you believe deserve the award, copy and paste this on their wall. You must be honest, it is a way to show your respect and admiration for people who sometimes forget their worth! If you receive it over three times, consider yourself really a beautiful person and warrior. If you break the game nothing will happen, but it's nice to know that someone appreciates and admires you and you're a beautiful person inside and out!

The game seems pretty simple but not for me, I have so many folks on my list who deserves to be awarded, narrowing it down to ten was a pain.  Therefore, I politely excluded family members, their gratitude will be given off facebook and ended up with fifty.  Then, I chose the first five males and five females who came to mind within five seconds while making the list. Pretty cool.
